Add whoisbrowsing to Wix

Updated

TL;DR

To see live visitors on a Wix site, add the script tag under Settings, Custom Code, apply it to all pages, and place it at the end of the body. Wix says the site must be published and have a connected domain.

Using an AI coding agent? Give it this prompt:

Add whoisbrowsing (live visitor view) to this project. Follow https://whoisbrowsing.com/SKILL.md exactly.

Your snippet

<script src="https://live.whoisbrowsing.com/s.js" data-site="YOUR_SITE_ID" defer></script>

Steps

  1. In your Wix dashboard, go to Settings, then Custom Code (under Development and integrations).
  2. Click Add Custom Code and paste the snippet. Name it "whoisbrowsing".
  3. Under Add Code to Pages, choose All pages, and set it to load on each new page.
  4. Under Place Code in, choose Body - end.
  5. Click Apply.

Wix's own guide (embedding custom code) says your site must be published with a connected domain, and it does not mention a premium plan requirement for this step. Connecting a domain may need a paid plan, so check your plan.

Notes

A free Wix subdomain is not enough per that guide. Test on your connected domain, in a private window.

Content-Security-Policy note

If your site sends a Content-Security-Policy header, allow the script and its live connection: script-src https://live.whoisbrowsing.com and connect-src wss://live.whoisbrowsing.com. Most Wix sites send no such header, so you can usually skip this.

Verify

  1. In whoisbrowsing, click Watch for your site.
  2. Open your site in a Chrome Incognito or Safari private window. Your own normal browser is never counted, so a private window is how you test.
  3. You should see yourself as a coloured cursor on your real page, and one line for you in the side panel.

Each website is separate: www. and the bare domain count as the same website, but localhost and production never mix. If you see nothing, check that the site ID matches the one shown for this site.

If you see nothing on Wix

  • Is the site published, on a connected domain? Wix's guide requires both before custom code runs.
  • Is the snippet applied to all pages? Open it under Custom Code and check All pages and Body - end.
  • Are you testing the live site? Open your connected domain in a private window, not the Wix editor or its preview.
  • Is the tag in the page source? Search the source for live.whoisbrowsing.com.

Let your AI agent do it

Add whoisbrowsing (live visitor view) to this project. Follow https://whoisbrowsing.com/SKILL.md exactly.

This prompt works when your site's code lives in a project an agent can edit. On Wix, where you edit the site in the browser, paste the tag yourself as shown above; an agent can still create the site for you and hand you the tag. See install with an AI agent.
